About the show NBC Thevoice

"The Voice" is a vocal competition series modeled after Holland's top-rated vocal talent discovery show, "The Voice of Holland." Hosted by Carson Daly, the show features four musician coaches: Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, who will coach only the most talented vocalists.
The show's innovative format features three stages of competition: the first begins with the blind audition, then the competition enters into a battle phase, and finally, the live performance. The show's casting team is working with the music industry and searching the country for the best singers to bring to the blind audition process. During the blind auditions, the decisions from the coaches are based solely on voice and not on looks. The coaches hear the contestants perform, but they don't get to see them - thanks to rotating chairs. If a coach is impressed by a contestant's voice, he/she pushes a button to select the contestant. At this point, the coach's chair will swivel to face the contestant selected. If more than one coach selects the talent, the power shifts to the contestant, who may choose which coach they want to work with throughout the competition.
Once the teams are set, the battle is on. Coaches will dedicate themselves to developing their singers, giving them advice, and sharing the secrets of their success. During the battle rounds the coaches will pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of a studio audience. After the vocal face-off, the coach must choose which singers will advanc

On April 26, the new musical reality show The Voice will premiere on NBC-TV.  Artist coaches include Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.  Their decisions will be based on vocal talent only.  Aguilera said, “I love that I get to sit here with my back turned and just use one sense to see if I’m really moved.  Do they move me with a song?  I’m not looking for a big range.  I’m looking for raw talent.”  Once each star mentor has chosen their favorite contestant, they’ll bring in their own songwriters, producers, choreographers and stylists to assist.  Viewer votes will determine the winner

‘The Voice of America’ Coming To NBC

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
There’s a new voice coming to the world of reality singing competitions – NBC’s “The Voice of America.”
On Monday, the networked announced plans to launch the next great reality TV competition that will search for America’s best voice.
Successful reality show producers Mark Burnett (“Survivor,” NBC’s “The Apprentice”), John de Mol (“Big Brother,” “Fear Factor”) and TV producers at Warner Horizon Television (“The Bachelor” franchise, “Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew”) will produce the singing competition show.
The series is modeled after the very popular Dutch version of the show, “The Voice of Holland,” which has displaced the Dutch version of “The X Factor” and “American Idol” as the top talent competition show in Holland.
The series will feature four celebrity artists, who will form teams of singers that they will coach and mentor throughout the competition. Individuals will be eliminated until each celebrity only has one team member left who will compete in the finals to be named “The Voice of America” in a live finale. To guarantee that the celebrities pick the best of the best, the series introduces a unique twist – the initial audition process is blind; coaches can only hear the singer but cannot see them.
The show’s format will feature three stages of competition. The first begins with the blind audition, then the competition enters into a battle phase, and finally, the live performance shows.
“This show truly focuses on amazing voices,” Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, NBC and Universal Media Studios, said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “The celebrity coaches are passionate about discovering, developing and nurturing new talent. As soon as we saw the Dutch format, we knew this was completely different and really exciting.”
Viewers will also have a say in determining the competition’s finalists, as they vie for the grand prize of a recording contract.
“The Voice of America” is slated to premiere on NBC in Spring 2011.
